Conjunction · Zero degrees

The conjunction is the Western tradition’s tightest aspect. Two planets sit at nearly the same degree, about zero degrees apart, occupying one place in the sky. In whole-sign terms they share a single sign. The tradition reads their natures as fused, no longer two separate voices but one blended tone.

It is the strongest of the aspects, and on its own it is neither easy nor hard. What it does depends on who is joined. Two benefics blend and lift each other, two malefics can strain and sharpen each other’s edge, a benefic and a malefic mix. The angle only fuses. The planets decide what the fusion feels like.

The conjunction does not judge. It only fuses.

This is the Western, tropical reading, one of the degree-based angles Western astrology counts between planets. Vedic astrology draws the same picture in a different language. It calls two planets in one sign yuti, a conjunction of place, and it does not read influence through the Western angles at all, but through dṛṣṭi, the one-way glance a planet casts forward.
