Gate 7 · The Role of the Self
Leadership by example rather than force, the self that others agree to follow into the future.
Reading
Gate 7 sits in the G Centre, the seat of identity and direction, and reaches toward the Throat through the channel of the Alpha. Its keynote is not command but influence: the one who is followed because the direction feels true, not because it was imposed.

The I Ching calls its hexagram The Army, order held by someone who leads from inside the ranks. In the bodygraph it is the role stepped into for the sake of a group: the self that offers others a future to move toward.
Read in the third line, the Martyr, leadership here is learned by trial and error, got wrong in public and adjusted, again, until it holds. Authority earned through the bruises rather than the theory.
