Reading

Gate 6 sits in the Solar Plexus, one of the four motors, and runs a single channel: 6–59, Mating, down into the Sacral. That is the whole of its wiring. One partner, one line, straight to the centre that makes life. The system reads the pair as the mechanics of intimacy, with gate 59 doing the approaching and gate 6 holding the barrier that the approach has to get past.

Gate 59 approaches. Gate 6 decides.

Its hexagram is the sixth, Sòng, Conflict, drawn as Heaven above and Water below: two forces moving apart, one climbing, one draining away. The classical counsel is to meet the dispute early and cheaply, before positions harden, and to resist the urge to force a crossing while the water is high.

Carrying gate 6, practitioners hold, means carrying a barrier that opens and closes for reasons of its own. Emotional weather governs it. In the bodygraph a defined Solar Plexus takes precedence over every other inner authority, and clarity is said to arrive across a stretch of time rather than inside one hot moment. Across the wheel the gate faces 36, its programming partner, also in the Solar Plexus, and the two share their crosses almost exactly: Eden on the right angle, the Plane on the left, with Conflict and Crisis dividing the juxtaposition between them. Paradise and quarrel, filed under one number.

The gift is a wall that knows when to come down, and for whom. The shadow is a wall kept up so long it begins to feel like a personality. The friction was never the problem. What matters is what it guards, and who is finally let through.
