Gate 14 · Great Possession

Gate 14 sits in the Sacral, the generative centre, the engine room of the chart. It forms one channel, 2–14, the Beat, and that channel runs up into the G, where Gate 2 keeps the direction of the self. The whole mechanic is in that single wire: fuel in one centre, a heading in the other, nothing in between to soften the connection.

The I Ching names hexagram 14 Dà Yǒu, Great Possession. Fire stands above heaven, the sun at midday with nothing left in shadow, and the classical image treats abundance as a test of whoever is holding it. What is owned is the easy half. What it is for is the other one.

The fire is already lit. The question is what it is under.

The system reads Gate 14 as the resource gate, and practitioners read the resource wider than money: energy, hours, the strange competence that shows up when work is loved and quietly leaves when it is not. Held well, the force follows something actually valued, and the material follows the force. Held badly, the same power goes into work picked out of fear or for approval, and it grinds. The gate does not choose. It supplies.

Fifty-third position on the wheel, opening at 24°30′ Scorpio, it faces Gate 8 in the Throat across the mandala as its programming partner. That pairing echoes in the crosses this gate carries: Contagion, Empowering, Uncertainty. What gets fuelled in the belly is heard in the voice, or it is not heard at all.
