Gate 45 · Gathering Together

Gate 45 sits in the Throat, the centre of voice and manifestation, and its voice is a we rather than an I. It forms one channel, 21–45, the Money Line, running down to gate 21 in the Heart. Willpower holds the material world at one end; the voice claims it for a people at the other. This is the circuitry of the tribe and what the tribe owns together.

The I Ching names hexagram 45 Cuì, Gathering Together. A lake gathered above the earth, and in the judgment the king goes up to his ancestral temple to make the great offering. Everything in the text is assembly: people drawn to one point, wealth pooled so it can be shared, a leader who is legitimate only because the gathering agrees to gather around him.

The system reads gate 45 as that voice, the one at the head of the table. Practitioners hold its authority is granted, never seized. Held well, it is the generous host, the mouth that says ours and keeps the granary open, sovereignty proven by what the table is fed. Held badly, the same voice turns inward: the throne that hoards, ownership that has forgotten the people it was meant to feed.

Twenty-fifth station on the wheel, opening at 17° of Gemini, it sits opposite gate 26 in the Heart as its programming partner. The crosses name the whole spectrum plainly: Rulership on the right angle, Possession in juxtaposition, Confrontation on the left. A voice this size can gather a tribe or gather only for itself.
