Gate 29 · The Committed Yes

Gate 29 sits in the Sacral, the body’s motor of response and life-force, and forms one leg of the channel of Discovery, which runs up to Gate 46 in the G Centre. The Sacral answers in real time, a yes or a no that rises from the gut before the mind has weighed in. Gate 29 is the yes. The whole engine turns over and commits.

Its hexagram in the I Ching is the twenty-ninth, Kǎn, the Abysmal: water doubled, one gorge opening onto the next. The classical image is water that flows on and on, filling every hollow it meets before it moves, reaching its goal by refusing to stop. Danger repeated, and the only way across is constancy. That is the mechanic. The system reads Gate 29 as the power to say yes and then stay in it, to learn what a commitment holds by living the whole length of it. The names the tradition gives its crosses run the same line: Contagion, Commitment, Industry.

The gift is devotion that opens new ground, the yes that becomes a life. The shadow is the yes given too cheaply, said on reflex, until a person is bound to depths they never chose and cannot find the bank. Practitioners hold the correction as plain and hard: wait for the yes that comes from the whole body, then keep it. A yes is a crossing. Only water that means it reaches the far side.
