Solar Plexus · The Emotional Wave

The Solar Plexus sits low in the bodygraph, seventh of the nine centres, and it is one of the four motors: an engine, not an awareness. What it drives is feeling. Seven gates live here, 6, 22, 30, 36, 37, 49 and 55, and their channels reach out four ways, up to the Throat, across to the Sacral, over to the Heart, and three separate times down to the Root. Wired like that, the centre colours most of what it touches.

There is no truth in the now. The truth is in the wave.

The gates carry the I Ching’s hexagrams of feeling. Gate 55 is Fullness, feeling at its brightest; Gate 36 is the Darkening of the Light, that same feeling dimmed; Gate 30 is the Clinging Fire of desire, and Gate 49 the Revolution that overturns a bond. Between the bright pole and the dim one the system reads an emotional wave, a slow rise and fall the person does not choose. When the centre is defined, the chart makes the whole authority emotional: clarity is held to ripen over time, never to land whole in a single moment. The discipline is patience.

Defined is not steadier, and open is not weaker. Defined runs its own weather, a wave that repeats, and the person becomes the emotional climate of a room. Open takes the room in instead, amplifying whatever feeling is already there, a real gift of empathy and a trap only when a borrowed mood gets mistaken for one’s own. The counsel the practitioners give is the same either way: wait for the water to settle before you call it true.
