Heart Centre · The Motor of Will and Worth

The Heart is the smallest centre in the bodygraph and one of only four motors: heart, solar plexus, sacral, root. It runs on willpower. Four gates sit here, 21, 26, 40 and 51, each carrying a hexagram the I Ching set down long before any wheel was drawn around it.

Willpower with nothing to prove.

Gate 21 is Biting Through, the decisive cut that clears an obstacle, the will to hold one’s own ground; carried to the Throat it becomes the money line, will made material. Gate 26 is the Taming Power of the Great, force stored and then aimed, the persuader who moves goods and people. Gate 40 is Deliverance, the release that follows effort, the provider who works hard and then needs to be left alone. Gate 51 is the Arousing, thunder, the shock that wakes a person and sends them to compete.

Practitioners read a defined Heart as steady willpower: someone who can promise and deliver, whose worth runs on its own current. In the chart’s authority order, a defined Heart with no emotional, sacral or splenic definition gives Ego authority, deciding from the honest question of what one truly has the will for.

Defined is not better here and open is not lacking. An open Heart takes willpower in rather than making it, reads who around it carries real self-worth and who is bluffing, and holds the older wisdom that it never had anything to prove. The bruise belongs to the not-self, borrowing a promise it cannot keep.
