Mithuna is the sign of the pair: dvisvabhāva vāyu, dual air, ruled by Budha, and the old texts draw it as a couple mid-conversation, a man holding a club and a woman a lute (vīṇā). Dual-bodied signs get read for versatility and for facing two ways at once, and Mithuna faces toward exchange. Everything here arrives in twos: question and answer, hand and other hand, the thing and the name for it. This is the part of a chart that learns by talking and thinks by moving.

Its virtue is range, the mind that can hold two truths without panic, translate between rooms, make the introduction that changes both parties. Classically the same doubleness turns shadow once it loses its anchor: the answer that shifts to fit the listener, curiosity spent a half-inch deep across a mile of surface. The tradition reads a tendency here and stops short of the person; gift and fault run on one wire.
