Virgo · Kanyā

Kanyā is the maiden holding a sheaf of grain, the harvest already cut and waiting to be sorted. She is dual earth, dvisvabhāva pṛthvī, ruled by Budha, and the one rāśi that is both his home and his exaltation: Mercury at his own workbench, the mind finally handed something to do with its hands. Classically the reading stays quiet. Intelligence in Kanyā turns toward repair, toward the flaw seen and then corrected, and the eye that finds the flaw cannot easily unsee it.

The tradition reads its gift as craft practiced as devotion. The checklist that catches the error before it reaches the patient, the comma that rescues the sentence, service done exactly and without ceremony. The same eye turned on the self or the beloved is the shadow: criticism as ambient weather, perfection kept as a reason never to finish, worry running its laps at three in the morning.
