Tulā is the only sign the zodiac draws as an object, a merchant’s scale with nothing alive on it, just the act of weighing. Classically it is chara (movable) air ruled by Śukra, and it is the sign where the tradition exalts Śani: judgment reaches its uccha, its exaltation, exactly where desire has learned patience. Venus wants the room pleasant; Śani asks what the pleasantness cost.
Jyotiṣa reads Tulā as the seventh rāśi and the natural seat of the seventh bhāva, the house of the other across the table: partner, client, opponent, the chair opposite yours. This is where a chart meets the world through someone else. Its virtue is proportion, the knack of making two sides feel weighed fairly. Its shadow is the scale that never settles, the decision handed to whoever spoke last, peace bought at the price of a true answer, charm standing in for conviction.
The body correspondence gives it the kidneys and the lower back, the filtering organs and the hinge of posture, which the older texts read as balance made flesh. Where Tulā sits, look for what a person keeps trading away to keep the room calm. It rhymes with Justice, RWS arcanum eleven, the scale lifted into law.
