The relationship spread · the two and the bond
Two people and the thing between them, laid out to be looked at.
Reading
The common form gives three cards and reads them across a middle. One card for you, one for the other person, one for the connection between the two. The center card is the one that carries the reading, since it names the thing neither of you holds alone. A wider version adds a card for what each brings to the bond and a card for what each needs from it, and often a last card for where the bond is heading if nothing in it changes.
Read the spread as a pattern in the dynamic, not a verdict on what the other person privately feels. The card that falls on them shows the part of them that meets you here, the face the bond turns toward you, and no card can report a heart it cannot see. What the spread is good for is the shape of the exchange: what flows easily, what stalls, where the two cards pull the same way and where they pull apart. The connection card read against the two person cards is usually where the honest information sits.
The spread reads the space between two people, not the people.
It works the same for romance, for family, for a pair who work together, since all three are a bond with two ends and a current running between them. Where a reading asks for more than three cards, the added positions are usually the needs and the direction, and they are extensions of the same three, not a different spread.
