The octagram · The whole figure

The Matrix of Destiny draws a whole life as an eight-pointed star, worked from a single birth date. Four of the points sit on the straight cross. Left and right, top and bottom, they come from the day, the month, the year reduced to one figure, and the sum of those three. The tradition reads these four at the ages 0, 20, 40, and 60, the plain scaffold the rest is hung on.

Four more points sit on the diagonal, the corners of what the Matrix calls the ancestral square. That line is read as inheritance, the pattern carried down rather than any proven fact of a family. Between all eight points sit smaller discs, each worked by reducing the sum of its two neighbors, so the figure fills inward from its edges. Where the axes cross sits the center.

Two smaller lines sit beside that center, one read as a money line, the other as a love line. The Matrix holds the whole as a single figure, a life seen at once rather than as a stack of separate cards. Each point carries its own arcanum, worked and read on its own; here the concern is only how they sit together.
