The Channel of Logic · Doubt and its answer, wired Head to Ajna

Two centres at the top of the bodygraph, both of them mind centres, neither one a motor, wired into a single loop. Gate 63 sits in the Head, the pressure centre at the crown, and Gate 4 sits in the Ajna, the mind’s workshop just below it. When both gates carry a charge the Head and the Ajna lock together, and the system reads that fixed wiring as logic: a way of thinking that runs the same way every time it runs.

Doubt above, answer below, checking each other on a loop.

The two hexagrams carry the whole circuit. Gate 63 is Jì Jì, After Completion, water resting above fire with every line in its correct place, which the I Ching treats as the most precarious position of all, since from perfect order things can only slip. So the Head presses a question down: will it hold? Gate 4 is Mêng, Youthful Folly, the spring at the foot of the mountain that does not yet know which way to run, the young mind asking to be taught. Its reply is a formula sent back up, and practitioners hold it as only ever a hypothesis until time has tested it.

Carried well, this is patient reasoning that others can rely on, a formula built to prove itself before it is trusted. Carried badly, the loop spins in place: doubt that never lets an answer stand, or certainty that skipped the checking. The whole gift lives in the checking.
