Reading

Dhana yoga is not one combination but a family of them. Jyotiṣa reads as wealth-forming any link between the lords of the money houses, the 2nd, the 5th, the 9th, and the 11th, whether they sit together, aspect one another, or trade signs in exchange. The 2nd is held wealth, the 11th gains and income, the 5th and 9th the trine houses of merit and fortune.

The tradition reads such a link as a potential for accumulation: earning, and the capacity to hold what is earned rather than watch it drain. It reports this much and stops there. What the money is for, and whether it arrives at all, the yoga does not say.

A wealth yoga on the page is a capacity, not a balance in an account.

These links form readily. A chart carries only so many lords, and connections between four of them are common enough that a dhana yoga on paper says little by itself. It is read as delivering only where the lords involved are genuinely strong, unafflicted, and a daśā of those planets runs to switch it on. A weak or afflicted lord leaves the yoga nominal.
