Dharma-Karmādhipati · the 9th and 10th lords joined

The ninth house is read as dharma: fortune, the father, the grace a life is given without earning it. The tenth is karma: action, the work a life does and the standing that work returns. When the lords of these two houses associate, by conjunction, by aspect, or by exchange of signs, the tradition marks the Dharma-Karmādhipati yoga, fortune married to action, and holds it among the strongest paths to standing.

Because the ninth is a trine and the tenth an angle, this pairing is itself a particular case of the kendra-trikoṇa rule that forms a Rāja yoga. Classically it is prized for joining the two houses a public life leans on most, the one that gives and the one that builds.

Like every yoga, it is a potential rather than a result. It is read to deliver only when both lords are strong and well placed, and when a daśā gives them their turn. Two afflicted lords, or lords buried in difficult houses, are treated as a promise the chart struggles to keep.
