Lakṣmī · the 9th lord and Lagna lord strong

Lakṣmī yoga sets the ninth lord, the ruler of fortune, in dignity: in its own sign or exaltation, standing in a kendra or a trikoṇa, an angle or a trine. Alongside it the Lagna lord, the ruler of the chart itself, must hold strength. Classical texts frame the yoga in more than one way, and the reading here follows the common form.

So placed, the tradition reads it as fortune and prosperity, a certain grace of circumstance, the sense of things arriving in favor. It is named for the goddess of wealth and abundance, and the codex reports the classical claim without extending it into a promise.

The name speaks of abundance; the chart only offers a capacity for it.

The whole yoga rests on genuine strength. A dignified ninth lord above a weak Lagna lord empties it, because the fortune has no strong center to reach. It is read as delivering only where both planets are actually strong and a daśā carries them. Otherwise it is a fine name over little, and no chart is a forecast of a life.
