Kahala · the 4th and 9th lords in mutual angle

Kahala yoga places the lords of the 4th and the 9th in mutual kendras, each standing in an angle from the other, and asks that the Lagna lord be strong. The 4th is the house of home and inner ground, the 9th the house of fortune and belief, and the yoga couples their rulers into a single charge.

The tradition reads it in a register of energy: boldness, drive, the will to push at things and not sit still. The same current, poorly governed, is read as stubbornness, force spent past the point of sense. The name is sometimes glossed as a martial instrument, a drum or war-trumpet, which suits the reading.

A yoga of drive still needs a strong hand to hold the reins.

Everything here rests on the Lagna lord. Without its strength the drive has no center to work from, and the yoga stays nominal. Texts define Kahala in more than one way, so the codex keeps the given form without claiming it is the only one. It is read as a potential for boldness where the lords are strong and a daśā activates them, and as nothing decided in any case.
