Saraswatī · Jupiter, Venus, Mercury well placed

Saraswatī yoga gathers the three grahas of learning, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, and asks them to stand in strong places: the kendras, the trikoṇas, or the 2nd house of speech. Jupiter in particular must be dignified, in his own sign or exaltation, because the whole reading leans on him.

The tradition reads the combination as a bent toward learning: eloquence, art, scholarship, the mind that gathers and expresses. It is named for the goddess of knowledge and the arts. The codex reports that classical claim as a potential for study, held and not conferred.

It is a commonly cited yoga, and being cited is not being active. Three benefics fall into angles and trines often enough that the pattern is not rare. It is read as delivering only where the planets are genuinely well placed and, above all, where Jupiter is dignified. A weak Jupiter leaves the other two without their anchor, and a daśā of the planets involved has to run before the learning shows.
