Maraka · the death-inflicting
The second and seventh, held classically as the timers of an ending.
Reading
Maraka means death-inflicting. The tradition names the 2nd and 7th houses, and the planets that rule them, as the marakas, the timers classically tied to the end of life. The reasoning runs through longevity: the 8th is the house of the life span and the 3rd its support, and the houses that stand twelfth from these, the 7th and the 2nd, are read as the ones that can close the account.
This is timing doctrine, not prophecy. A maraka is held as a period through which an ending may be timed, never a claim about when a given life will end, and the classical texts weigh it against longevity, strength, and much else before saying anything at all. The codex keeps it exactly there, a technical marker, held, not asserted.
A maraka names a possible season, never a date.
