Cross 42 · The gate of growth, carried three ways
The drive to bring a cycle to full term, read three ways: the Right Angle Cross of Maya works it out through its own process, the Juxtaposition Cross of Completion runs a fixed lane, the Left Angle Cross of Limitation reaches into other lives.
Reading
Gate 42 sits in the Sacral, the body’s engine of life-force. It forms one channel, 42–53, the channel of Maturation, reaching down to the Root. Gate 53 opens a cycle; gate 42 carries it through to the end. As a Sun gate it anchors an incarnation cross, the fixed geometry a life is said to be born onto, named for the gates the Sun and Earth hold at birth and design.
The drive to finish what was started, and the restlessness of a cycle left open.
The I Ching calls its hexagram Yì, Increase: wind above, thunder below. The classical reading is a season of growth in which what sits above is spent to enrich what lies below. It does not last forever, and the oldest commentaries say to use the time, not cling to it. Under the Sacral this becomes the felt push to see a thing through its whole growth, the satisfaction of a round completed and the frustration of one dropped halfway.
The system reads that growth three ways. The Right Angle Cross of Maya turns inward, a life largely about its own process, learning through the illusion of experience what a finished cycle costs. The Juxtaposition Cross of Completion is the narrow lane, a fixed fate set to close what others leave hanging. The Left Angle Cross of Limitation turns outward, transpersonal, a life entangled with others, where a felt sense of the natural limit becomes a gift to the whole.
Practitioners hold the gift and the cost together. Carried well, this is the patience to bring a thing to full term rather than scatter across unfinished starts. Carried badly, it is finishing for its own sake, or the anxiety of a cycle that will not close on command. Growth keeps its own clock.
