Cross 60 · The gate of limitation, carried three ways

Root pressure that accepts a boundary to force something new, read three ways: the Right Angle Cross of Laws works it out through its own process, the Juxtaposition Cross of Limitation runs a fixed lane, the Left Angle Cross of Distraction reaches into other lives.

Gate 60 sits at the base of the bodygraph, in the Root, one of the two pressure centres and a motor, the adrenalized push to move. It forms one channel, 3–60, the channel of Mutation, reaching up into the Sacral: gate 60 supplies the pressure, gate 3 the ordering it feeds. As a Sun gate it anchors an incarnation cross, the fixed geometry a life is said to be born onto, named for the gates the Sun and Earth hold at birth and at design.

The banks are what give the river its force.

The I Ching calls its hexagram Jié, Limitation: water above the lake, which holds only so much before it spills. The same character names the joints of the bamboo, the nodes that give the stalk its rhythm and strength. The old text holds that limitation succeeds, that form and measure come from accepting a boundary, and that a limitation turned bitter, forced past what it can bear, must not be persevered in.

The system reads that boundary three ways. The Right Angle Cross of Laws turns it inward, a life largely about its own process, working out through its own trials what order a limit can be made to yield. The Juxtaposition Cross of Limitation is the narrow lane, a fixed fate pressed against the bare fact of the boundary. The Left Angle Cross of Distraction turns it outward, transpersonal, a life entangled with others, where the pull away from the limit meets the collective’s own restlessness.

Practitioners hold the gift and the cost together. Carried well, this is the pressure that lets something genuinely new break through, the constraint that becomes a leap. Carried badly, it is the boundary felt as a wall, or the distraction that will not sit still long enough for the mutation to arrive. The bamboo grows by its joints.
