Cross 4 · The three crosses of Gate 4, the answer before its proof

Gate 4 sits in the Ajna, the mind under pressure to make sense of things, and its hexagram in the I Ching is Youthful Folly: a spring welling up at the foot of a mountain, water that does not yet know which way to run. The old text keeps the rule strict. The young fool goes to the teacher, the teacher does not chase the fool; ask once and the answer comes clean, ask three times and it muddies. That is the machinery of Gate 4. It is the answer offered before the proof has arrived, the confident formula still waiting to be tested by time. In the bodygraph it reaches up to the doubt of Gate 63 through the channel of Logic: doubt asks, Gate 4 answers, and only repetition settles who was right.

An incarnation cross is the frame a whole life hangs on, four gates fixed at birth, and this family carries Gate 4 at the Sun. The system reads it three ways. The Right Angle Cross of Explanation is a life mostly about its own process, absorbed in working the answer out for itself. The Juxtaposition Cross of Formulization is the narrow lane, one fixed gift, to produce the formula and produce it again. The Left Angle Cross of Revolution turns outward, tangled with other people, the answer that rearranges how a whole group thinks.

Gift and shadow share one mouth. Held loosely, Gate 4 is the nerve to propose a solution nobody has proven yet. Gripped too hard, it is the worry that answers only to end the not-knowing.
