Cross 3 · The gate of ordering, carried three ways

Gate 3 sits in the Sacral, the body’s generative motor, and forms a single channel, 3–60, the channel of Mutation, dropping to the Root. As a Sun gate it anchors an incarnation cross: the fixed geometry a life is said to be born onto, named for the gates the Sun and Earth occupy at birth and at the design instant.

New order pushing up before the ground is ready.

The I Ching calls its hexagram Zhun, Difficulty at the Beginning: thunder stirring beneath water, a blade of grass forcing its way up through frozen ground. The oldest reading is of the first hour of anything new, before order has arrived, when the counsel is patience, help, and not moving blindly.

The system reads that difficulty three ways. The Right Angle Cross of Laws turns it inward, a life largely about its own process, working out how new order gets made by getting its own beginnings wrong, then right. The Juxtaposition Cross of Mutation is the narrow lane, a fixed fate pressed hard against the pure force of change itself. The Left Angle Cross of Wishes turns it outward, transpersonal, a life entangled with others, where what one wants becomes bound up with what the collective is trying to become.

Practitioners hold the gift and the cost together. Carried well, this is the patience to let a new form arrive in its own time. Carried badly, it is the frustration of forcing a sprout that is not ready. The seed keeps its own clock.
