Cross 22 · Rulership, Grace, and Informing, the crosses carried by Gate 22

Every incarnation cross keys to the Sun gate a life is built around, and here that gate is the twenty-second, seated in the Solar Plexus, the center the system reads as emotional. Gate 22 forms the channel of Openness with gate 12 in the Throat, so its raw material is feeling given form: the mood that opens a room or closes it, the emotional wave made audible as grace or as its refusal.

The I Ching names the twenty-second hexagram Bì, Grace: fire at the foot of the mountain, Li beneath Kên, a light that beautifies the shape it falls on. Wilhelm reads it as form that succeeds in small matters and oversteps in great ones, adornment favorable so long as it serves the substance beneath. Carried into the bodygraph, this is the manner of a thing weighed against its truth, beauty that can clarify a feeling or gild over it.

The family holds three angles. The Right Angle Cross of Rulership turns the gate inward, a life largely about its own process, grace matured into the government of one’s own emotional weather. The Juxtaposition Cross of Grace is the narrow lane, a fixed fate pressed into the manner itself, form made the whole work, the same word the old hexagram carries. The Left Angle Cross of Informing runs transpersonal, a life entangled with others, feeling opened outward so a room is told the emotional truth it was avoiding.

Practitioners hold the gift as the grace to move people and let them close, and the shadow as charm mistaken for substance, or a mood that shuts the door and calls it taste. Form beautifies; it was never meant to rule.
