Cross 47 · Rulership, Oppression, and Informing, the crosses carried by Gate 47
A life read around the mind pressed to make sense of confusion, governed inward as Rulership, narrowed to Oppression itself, or opened outward as Informing.
Reading
Every incarnation cross keys to the Sun gate a life is built around, and here that gate is the forty-seventh, seated in the Ajna, the center the system reads as mental awareness. The Ajna is no motor, so Gate 47 drives nothing. It receives pressure from above, wired to gate 64 in the Head through the channel of Abstraction, and its raw material is confusion, the backlog of impressions the mind is pressed to turn into sense.
The mind held under what it cannot yet resolve.
The I Ching names the forty-seventh hexagram Kùn, Oppression, also read as Exhaustion or Confinement: a lake with its water drained away below, dry and hemmed in. The old character sets a tree inside an enclosure, growth pressed against a wall it cannot pass. The judgment reads it as adversity that only inner firmness survives, and keeps the line that rhymes hardest here, that the confined may speak and go unbelieved. In the bodygraph this becomes a mind working at a puzzle that yields in its own time, never by force.
The family holds three angles. The Right Angle Cross of Rulership turns the pressure inward, a life largely about its own process, confusion governed until it becomes understanding held close. The Juxtaposition Cross of Oppression is the narrow lane, a fixed fate pressed into the pressure itself, the same word the old hexagram carries. The Left Angle Cross of Informing runs transpersonal, a life entangled with others, the realization opened outward and told.
Practitioners hold the gift as the mind that finally makes a confusion mean something, and the shadow as grinding at a puzzle that only resolves once it is set down. The mind makes the meaning; it cannot choose the hour.
Where it rhymes
The same archetype, spoken in other systems.
Saturn · Śani
The graha of constriction and long patience, the pressure that answers to nothing but endurance, the exhaustion the old hexagram is named for.
