Cross 16 · The incarnation crosses carried by a Gate 16 Sun

Gate 16 sits in the Throat, the centre of voice and of doing, and its hexagram is the sixteenth, Yù, given as Enthusiasm: thunder breaking resounding out of the receptive earth, one strong line among five yielding ones. The old commentaries read it as music and as timing, the note struck to honour merit and to set an army marching. When this gate holds the Sun, that current becomes a life’s larger theme rather than a single talent.

Enthusiasm grown into a life’s whole weather.

An incarnation cross names that theme. The system builds it from the axis the Sun and Earth held at birth and the same axis eighty-eight degrees of solar arc earlier, four gates in all, then sorts the result by angle.

The Right Angle Cross of Planning is read as a life largely about its own process, enthusiasm slowed into arrangement, the person laying out the parts by private trial until the leap has somewhere to land. The Juxtaposition Cross of Experimentation is the narrow fixed lane, a fate that keeps trying the thing to see what it does, learning only by touching the stove. The Left Angle Cross of Identification turns outward and transpersonal, where the skill is for others, the talent that lets a group recognize itself and cohere around it.

The gift across all three is enthusiasm that has done its practice. The shadow is the leap taken on mood alone, thunder with no earth beneath it to sound against.
